New York City’s annual, citywide design festival, was inaugurated in May 2012 to showcase the city’s, and the world’s, creative talent across various disciplines. Founded as a municipal initiative by the Bloomberg Administration and NYCEDC, it has grown from a local effort into a premier global event, now operating as an independent non-profit.

Following a survey highlighting the economic impact of the local design community, NYCEDC and NYC & Company launched the first official NYCxDESIGN festival in May 2012, anchoring it around major events like ICFF and WantedDesign.

The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF)

ICFF is North America’s leading platform for contemporary furnishing design.

With its emphasis on original and sustainable design, ICFF presents a broad range furnishing product for residential, contract and hospitality environments to an audience of 10,000 architects, interior designers, retailers, distributors, developers, and press. ICFF brings together over 450 established and emerging design brands from more than 35 countries.

On the show floor, attendees will also have opportunities to find inspiration through ICFF Talks, a focused lineup of panel sessions, keynote presentations, and intimate conversations led by the most iconic names in the industry. Furthermore, opportunities to widen professional networks are boundless. From organic meetings on the show floor to evening events, attendees and exhibitors join together to exchange business strategies while strengthening relationships in the design community.

Founded in 2011 in New York City by French New Yorkers Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, WantedDesign has evolved into a design hub, a dynamic connector and amplifier for global design, fostering creative synergy and serving as a pivotal crossroad for the international design community.

Following an important transformation for these past years, the multi-generational, women-led company now includes Colombian partner Daniela Giraldo Hinestroza and will continue to build on its foundation of community, education, and curation. Through its diverse array of programs-including residencies, workshops, immersion trips, and a membership program – WantedDesign connects designers at every stage of their career with key players of the industry across the Americas and Europe, with a special focus on emerging design.

West Harlem Art Fund and NY Artist Equity Association will host a Meet and Greet for our 2026 artists and designers at WeWork Harlem on May 15th (1pm) and present a special tour for NYCxDesign on May 17th (1pm) beginning at St. Nicholas Park.
