Harlem Sculpture Gardens

Three years ago, the historic parks in Harlem were transformed into venues for large-scale contemporary public art. This outdoor exhibition, curated by Savona Bailey-McClain and co-presented by West Harlem Art Fund and NY Artist Equity Association, is available for viewing from early May to the end of October. West Harlem’s cultural, demographic, and natural history are the inspiration for works.

Through collaborations with partners like the City College School of Architecture, Brotherhood Sister Sol and the J. Max Bond Center for Urban Futures, we drove our project to also address climate change and urban resiliency issues.

Public art installations demand robust construction skills—carpentry for bases, understanding pipes for sound pieces, and drone piloting for monitoring. Facing new environmental challenges, we have trained our team for resiliency—adding soil, flood, and tree stewardship expertise.
