For the fourth year, the West Harlem Art Fund will participate in Armory Week. The organization will produce two events uptown in partnership with Studio Museum and El Museo del Barrio.

    The Shadows Took Shape Exhibition

    Studio Museum in Harlem Tour & Wine Tasting at Red Rooster in Harlem The Shadows Took Shape Exhibition is a dynamic interdisciplinary exhibition exploring contemporary art through the lens of Afrofuturist aesthetics — explore science fiction, fantasy, magical realism and pan-Africanism. The twenty-nine artists featured in The Shadows Took Shape work in a wide variety of media, including photography, video, painting, drawing, sculpture and multimedia installation. Participating artists include Derrick Adams, John Akomfrah, Laylah Ali, Edgar Arceneaux, Sanford Biggers and more. Guests can opt for lunch afterwards at the famed Red Rooster restaurant owned by Marcus Samuelsson.
    Participants must bring their paper ticket.Tickets are available on Amazon Local and Eventbrite.

El Museo del Barrio, often known simply as El Museo is a museum located in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. It is located towards the northern end of Museum Mile. Founded in 1969, El Museo specializes in Latin American and Caribbean art, with an emphasis on works from Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican in New York City. The museum also features an extensive collection of around 8,500 pieces composed of pre-Columbian and traditional artifacts. Afterwards there will be a tasting of South American wines. Participants must bring their paper ticket. Tickets are available on Amazon Local and Eventbrite.
